DO BIBLE ENCOURAGE DIVORCE ? GOD PURPOSES FOR MARRIAGAE

Divorce is the reversal of marriage. What does the Holy Scripture teach about marriage and divorce?
God hates adultery. The penalty for adultery under the Old Testament could be death, Lev 20:10.
A man who intercourse with a woman becomes “one flesh” with her.
Marriage provides complementation resulting to perfection and esteem happiness

The Purpose and aims of Marriage
1. God created human sexuality> Male and female created He them, Gen 1:27. He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, Malt 19:4. Sex is an integral part of human nature, a gift from God, to be used according to His will, not according to our lusts or desires. God free gift follows a sequential rules and regulations for our God is not the God of disorderness
2. God instituted marriage. God made woman and brought her unto the man, Gen 2:22. A man shall be united to his wife and God's word declared that they would be one flesh, One flesh means one entity, one direction, one mindset and one goal. The binding force should be love Gen 2:24. So it is God who has joined them together, Malt 19:5-6.
   The wedding is a cultural or legal ceremony instituted by men. The custom varies according to time and location and cultural background. The Bible begins and ends with God-planned marriage. Christ also began His earthly ministry at a marriage. Marriage is an advocates for love
3. The marriage relationship supersedes the former parent-child relationship, Gen 2:24, Eph 5:31. This means that the emotional attachment of a child to its parent is replaced by the new mutual interdependence of marriage state. Its remarkable that fundamental principles laid down in the earliest chapters of the first book of the Bible are repeated and corroborated by the Lord Jesus Christ and/ or the inspired apostle.
4. This new relationship is permanent. God intends marriage to continue until death, Matt 19:6. Scripture says man and wife are one and no one should break this unity without the authority of God's word.

Here are God's purposes in establishing marriage as a permanent bond between man and wife.
• Companionship: In the beginning, God saw everything He had made and it was good or very good, but it was not good for man to be alone Gen 2:18. Thus God formed a suitable companion (woman) for man
• The propagation of the human race. Angels are individually created but the human race is self propagating.
• Promoting personality growth of parents and children, inculcating moral behaviors in child for better future and easier obedient to the commands of God.
• Meeting human sexual needs. God is aware that a man to man (gay) sex is unsuitable to mankind that’ is why there come the existence of women
• Marriage is a beautiful type of Christ and His Church. God ordained marriage to exemplify in advance something of the joy of our Lord Jesus Christ when He finally has His perfected Bride with Him forever.
• God's will is for a Christian to marry a fellow Christiana.

Divorce

The principles of God's word about marriage must always be kept in mind when dealing with divorce. We can be sure the Bible inspired by God and never contradicts itself. All scriptures must be brought together when considering any subject.

Divorce is never an option within the directive will of God. It was tolerated under the law because of the hearts of the people of Isreal were for the most part too hard to enter into the higher levels of God's will, Mark10:3-5.

Divorce is never commanded or encouraged in Scripture.

Divorce is always the result of sin.
This follows from God's expressed will that marriage is binding until death.
 a. God hates this practice of sending away a wife. Malachi 2:16.
 b. TO extent divorce is in the same category as idolatry, Deut.16:22. 
c. Adultery or fornication violates the "one flesh" principle which is fundamental to marriage as divinely obtained. Modern mores can never replace the will of God as a basis for our behavior.

We must not twist or force the plain meaning of Scripture to conform to preconceived ideas or the current moral code of worldly people around us.

Note these if you are not married yet
• Don't marry for sex. Dont marry because you are getting old.
• Dont marry because you are lonely.
• Dont marry because you don't want to lose the person.
• Dont marry because of pressures.
• Dont marry becose you like the idea of marriage and admire every wedding you see.
• Dont marry becos all your friends are getting married;

. . But, -Get married becos you want to fulfil destiny and God divine will.
-Get married because you want to be a helpmate to an imperfect person who loves & accepts you for who you are, not who you pretend to be!
